Manila so far

 Finalmente llegue a Manila, con un poco de retraso, salí, supuestamente estaba el conductor con mi nombre es un papel esperándome, los busque y lo busque y nada, ya me estaba desesperando, la calor no la aguantaba, un joven parece haber visto mi cara de desesperación y me pregunto que si necesitaba ayuda, los Filipinos son muy buena gente, y siempre están dispuesto a ayudar, le conteste que si que alguien me tenia que estar esperando y no veía a la persona, me presto su celular para llamar a Jake, y adivinen? el cel de Jake estaba apagado.


 Yo, que no me doy por vencida seguí buscando, vi a un señor mayor que tenia un letrero que decía Madarin Oriental Hotel, yo dije esto no es mi nombre pero ese es el hotel, me le acerque y le dije soy Danayka Santamaría y me pregunta la esposa de Jake yo dije YES!!!


Mas tarde Jake me aclara que no podían poner mi nombre por seguridad. Porque no me dijo antes????

Manejando por la ciudad me recordó tanto a mi Colon, tanta pobreza, tanta gente trabajando duro por poder meterse un pan a la boca.

 Me recibieron en el hotel , Jake se acababa de ir ósea que hice ese vuelo, de mas de 12 horas, y aun así no logre ver a mi esposo, por minutos no coincidimos, pero bueno esa es la vida que llevamos.

Subí a mi cuarto con el señor de la maletas, yo preocupada por que no tenia ni un peso, La moneda que usan acá es peso 1.00 US$ es  igual a 44 pesos filipinos.


En la cama había una nota de Jake de bienvenida y me dejo dicho que en la caja fuerte habían pesos, yo abrí la caja fuerte y saque los pesos, y me dije ahora que hago?? cuanto le doy? Que pena!


Le dije al señor que tenia pesos pero no tenia idea de como usarlos, que tenia billetes de 1,000 pesos que es mas o menos 20.00 US$, comenzamos los dos con la calculadora a ver que nos salía,, como yo soy tan buena en lo números... LOL!!! El señor muy honesto me dijo dámelo y le traigo cambio con 200 pesos son suficiente, luego el mismo señor se sentó a escribirme como se decían algunas palabras en Tagalog( El idioma oficial de Filipina)

 Me vestí, bien tapadita para no llamar la atención tome el transporte del hotel para irme al mall, hay 3 malles gigantes cerca del hotel pero cuando le digo gigantes un mall es toda una ciudad.



Fui al mall a ver donde almorzaba, estuve 2 horas caminando antes de encontrar un lugar donde comer, finalmente encuentro un lugar Italiano en unos de los tantos restaurantes en el mall, luego fui a hacer súper, en el súper un señor me comenzó a perseguir por todos los pasillo y yo aterrada luego se pone enfrente y comienza a hablar otro idioma y yo desesperada le digo en español NO ENTIENDO Y NO QUIERO ENTENDER! luego me pregunta soltera o casada? le enseñe mi anillo y se fue... ufffffff que miedo...



Fui al mercado a comprar frutas después fui a la panadería que panes mas fresco wow... a Jake les encanto tienen toda clase de panes.

Finally get to Manila, with a little delay,  the driver supposed to be waiting for me , I looked for him and nothing, I was getting desperate, I can not stand the heat, a young man seems to have seen my face of despair and wonder if I needed help, the Filipinos are very good people, and are always willing to help, I replied that  someone was waiting for me and did not see the person . He lent me his phone to call Jake, and guess what? Jake cel was off.
 I do not give up I kept looking, I saw an elderly gentleman who had a sign that said Mandarin Oriental Hotel, I said this is not my name but that is the hotel, I approached him and told him I'm Danayka Santamaria Jake's wife, he asked, I said YES!

Later Jake explained that they could not put my name for security. Why the didn't told me before??
Driving through the city reminded me so much of my Colon, so much poverty, so many people working hard to get the food of the day.


 I get to the hotel, after 40 min drive from the airport . I went to my room with the bellboy,  the currency used here is PESO  1.00 U.S $ is equal to 44 Philippine pesos and I didn't have any.

 In the bed was a welcome note from Jake saying that he let me pesos in the safe box , I opened the safe and remove the Pesos, and I said NOW WHAT??? OHH DEARRR..

 I told the bellboy that I do have Pesos but I had no idea how to use them, I just had 1,000 pesos bills which is roughly  20.00 U.S $ started the two of us with the calculator, trying to figure that out, Cuz I'm so good with numbers right???? LOL! The very honest gentleman told me giveme 200 pesos and I bring you change , then the same man sat down to write a few words in Tagalog (Philippine's official language)

 I dressed to not call  attention, then I took the hotel shuttle to go to the mall, there are 3 giant Malls near the hotel but when I say giant mall ,is an entire city.

 I went to the mall to see where should I have lunch, I walked 2 hours before finding a place to eat, I finally find an Italian place in one of the many restaurants in the mall, then went to do groceries an a man started chasing me for all the hall and then he stopped  in front of  me I was terrified and he began to speak another language and I was desperate so I said in Spanish I DO NOT UNDERSTAND AND I DO NOT WANT TO UNDERSTAND! then  he asked single or married? I showed him my ring... then he left... how scary.... I know it was just my first day here I'm still paranoiac about everything.
Then I went to the market to buy frui,t follow by the bakery, breads here are really fresh .. They are so good, I loved it they have all kinds of breads.
